The Power of Creating Your Personal Style

We had an incredible time at our event with Frame this past week. We learned so much from our talented panelists, Jamilah Nicol, Kyanna Renee, and Derria Underwood, about the power of creating our personal style and how it aids us in boosting our confidence.

We started the conversation by asking the ladies how they used style to express themselves, and celebrity stylist Jamilah Nicol stated that she expresses her style by choosing pieces that fall within her 3 style categories: comfort, elevated, and casual. When speaking on how to be authentic in our style expression, fashion Influencer (and the reason for my umpteen Target shopping sprees), Derria Underwood reminded us that staying true to ourselves when picking pieces is the best route to take because people can feel inauthentic energy. Get pieces that you love and that represent you because you may just become an inspiration to someone else.

Next, we spoke about confidence and how to use our style to boost it. For the longest time, my only remedy to boost my confidence was through my morning affirmations, which are “I am Confident, I am Bold, and I am Courageous.” However, to really become those things, I will have to show up as them in moments and situations that require it because when you ask for those attributes, the Universe will present you with opportunities that require you to step outside of your comfort zones and embody those qualities. The ladies shared tangible ways to step outside our comfort zones with fashion by introducing color, texture, and patterns into our wardrobes. They assured us that the only rule for a great style is to pick pieces that help us express ourselves.

I openly promised myself that I would explore more with color blocking by the end of the year!

Additionally, the ladies of the panel shared their thought process on purchasing big-ticket items, and the girl math used to convince themselves to swipe their cards. Jamilah suggested envisioning styling the piece in 3 different ways, and Kyanna told us to look at the quality and the fabric before making it a part of our closest.

Collectively, the ladies encouraged us to clean our closet, do an inventory of the pieces we already have, and clear out or give away the items we haven’t worn in the last 2 years. The conversation inspired us and will help us become more intentional about the pieces we purchase and how we style them to express ourselves authentically. After the conversation, our guests shopped the latest Frame collection with their 15% discount and enjoyed delicious social tonics from Hiyo. It was a wonderful evening filled with laughter, joy, and inspiration.
