Chakras, Crystals & Stones.. oh my!
During my self healing journey I have been researching different ways to heal my energy. Prayer has been beneficial but I wanted to look into holistic options too! I came across Chakra Healing: A Beginner's Guide to Self- Healing Techniques that Balance the Chakras by Margarita Alcantara. Not only was it a great read but I learned so much on how to heal and protect my energy. In this book Margarita touches on Chakras, crystals, stones and different essential oils that can aid in anyone's healing journey.
Chakras are energy points within the body and there are 7 different types, which include:
Third Eye Chakra
Solar Plexus Chakra
Each chakra effects something different and during mediation you can help open these chakras with the use of different crystals/stones. Additionally each chakra corresponds with a different color which makes it easier to determine which crystal/stone helps with which chakra. This post will just be about my current favorites and which chakra they correspond to. If you are interested in getting a more in depth guide on the chakras I recommend getting Margarita's book as there is a plethora of information about each one.
At the beginning of my journey I focused mainly on my Heart and Throat chakra. I felt that I needed help learning how to properly communicate my feelings. When things went unsaid I would get this intense discomfort in my throat that spread across my shoulders causing me to tense up! My body was literally telling me I needed to communicate how I feel, but my mind always stopped me because I was always worried on how I would be perceived. I have come to a place where I no longer care about how others interpret my feelings as long as I express them calmly and effectively.
The Throat chakra is the voice of the body and it allows other energies within the body to be expressed, it's important to express your feeling as keeping in bottled emotions will only lead to catastrophe. So, after doing my research I went a bought an Emerald, Lapis Lazuli and Sodalite.
The Emerald nurtures the heart and helps bring balance the the heart chakra. It is one of the 4 precious stones and is the stone of "Unconditional Love".This is a great stone for anyone who is on a self love journey! This stone promotes friendship, inspires and aids with patience, which I needed to work on desperately! Additional, this stone helps with self-esteem and has an extremely calming effect on your emotions. Emeralds are also known for reviving passion, inspiring eloquent speech, strengthens memory and aids in reflection and focus.
My next purchase was the Lapis Lazuli. It is a beautiful dark indigo blue color with flecks of gold. This is a great stone for future Executives, like myself, because it aids with stimulating wisdom and helps you practice good judgement. It also help with calm and loving communication, emphasis on the calm and loving! Known as the "Stone of Truth" and helps bring about self awareness, aids with self expression and encourages honesty.
This baby promotes peace and tranquility, which I am sure all of us need right now! Sodalite stimulates the throat chakra and promotes creative thinking and also resonates strongly with your intuition. It is a great stone to meditate with on your third eye chakra and helps to improve communication. Known as the poet's stone, it filters out negative properties and enhances the optimistic thought process. This is a great stone to keep in your workspace and is ideal for writers!
Whenever getting a new crystal or stone make sure to cleanse it! I normally use sage or a salt bath and finish off the process with a sound healing session. More on sound baths and how amazing they are later! Also charge your crystals under the full moon and we have one coming up on Wednesday September 2nd!
Depending on what chakra you are looking to heal, there is a stone/crystal that can help! They are great to use during your yoga sessions and ideal for mediation to help keep you grounded and clear any negative energy. I am determined to collect as many as I can but I am always drawn to purchase the ones I need when I need it! What are some of your favorite stones? How do you use them?
