5 tips to support your mental health

I feel like every other post I've posted this year has been about mental health and how you can take care of yourself mentally, physically and spiritually. Truth is, I need all of the extra encouragement myself so, I feel that writing about it helps me. I've read countless blogs about ways to stay sane in these crazy times and I have found 5 bomb ass tips that have helped me this past month.

1.Journal Your Thoughts

Lately, this has been a daily ritual! Journaling has helped me understand my emotions, which has also helped me communicate them better. I am an intuitive, emotional Cancer and my feelings tend to get the better of me at times. However, since journaling I am able to take a step back and really understand my emotions before acting on them so abruptly. It has also been quite of a release to be able to write my feelings down and let go. I found that journaling has really helped me to no longer linger in mixed emotions and free myself from them.

2. Bubble Baths

I enjoy nothing more than to soak in a nice hot bath, splashed with some essential oils, smoke a fat ass blunt and while listening to H.E.R. If its been a long day or week I'll add a glass of Malbec and get little cross faded in the tub. I add some white candles and lay my rose quartz and emerald crystals to set the mood and to help promote self love. I always try to read a book but I can never figure out how to read and not get the pages wet, I swear thats a skill that I don't have.

Say what you want but marijuanna gives me so much joy! It is clinically proven to help reduce anxiety and panic attacks. I prefer good a ol' sativa and after a few hits I am relaxed and as mellow as ever. I stop over thinking as much and even get a boost of motivation that sparks my creativity. It is just a plant, put on this planet by GOD! So, I utilize it in ways that help keep me calm whether that is smoking it or using it in a topical lotion. Now, I am not a medical professional so if you have any type of medical condition you need to ask a health care professional and If you are in a state that it is not legal, I recommend obeying the law. However, I live in California and enjoy the substance recreationally.

4. Enjoy Nature

Spending time outside is proven to help boost your mood and can help keep you grounded when you feel like everything it out of your control. I love spending time at my local park and do solo picnics or picnics with friends to enjoy the semi decent, smokey California air! Watching wildlife can also bring you into the present moment. So many times we constantly thinking of the future or the past and forget to enjoy in the very moment we are in. All we have is right now and we can't change what happened and we can't fully predict the outcome of all of our decisions. Enjoying nature has allowed me to enjoy in the right now and be grateful for everything that I have and will have.

5. Meditation

I love a good meditation session! I try and mediate first thing in the morning and again at the end of my day, but sometimes time doesn't permit my overly ambitious ways! However, I make sure to get it in at least 15 minutes a day.

According to Mayoclinic.org, mediation can help with the following things.

  • Gaining a new perspective on stressful situations

  • Building skills to manage your stress

  • Increasing self-awareness

  • Focusing on the present

  • Reducing negative emotions

  • Increasing imagination and creativity

  • Increasing patience and tolerance

It's the increasing patience and tolerance for me! Incorporating creative visualization has also been a BIG thing for me lately during my meditation sessions. Creative Visualization is the cognitive process of purposefully generating visual mental imagery, with eyes open or closed, simulating or recreating visual perception. This is why creating a vision board is so important.

I hope that you enjoyed these helpful tips on way to keep your mental health in check. What are some of your favorite things you do to keep your mental healthy?

As always, thank you for reading and if you found this helpful be a doll and share with someone you love!
